Trolley company to launch guided themed tours of Sarasota

by Ray Collins

SARASOTA, FL (WWSB) – Tammy Hauser moved to Sarasota three years ago and says she was surprised there were no guided trolley tours of Sarasota like you’d find in similar cities like Savannah or Charleston.

“I thought, ‘there are enough people that are here, there is enough history. We have so many interesting aspects. The circus, architecture, the Amish, the arts culture, why don’t we have a city tour?’ So I came up with it. And that’s what Discover Sarasota City Tours does.” Hauser said.

Discover Sarasota Trolley Tours offers daily tours, four days a week with different themes: City, circus and a ghost tour ($35*). There’s also a Friday night ‘Happy Hour’ tour where beer and wine is part of the ticket price. ($45.**)

UPDATE:

Discover Sarasota Tours has added new experiences, and now offers these regular tours at the following prices:

  • City Sightseeing, Circus City, Amish Experience, Public Art and Sports History tours are now $30.
  • Happy Hour, Ghost Tours, and Psychic Sundays are now $35.

Hauser plans to run tours from October 24th through May. The inaugural tour will be a ghost-themed tour on October 18th.

The trolley cottage is near the corner of Fruitville Road and Osprey Avenue. The cottage includes a gift shop with vintage Sarasota t-shirts, gift cards and memorabilia.
