Mummies, Mayhem, and Murder: Sarasota’s Haunted Past
A popular nighttime tour promises to delight and fright as Halloween approaches.
Sarasota’s known for its pristine beaches and robust arts scene, but it’s also known for some unsolved mysteries—and some spirited buildings as well.
Have you heard about the Opera House’s haunted hallways? Learn some spook-worthy history aboard Discover Sarasota Tours’ Haunted Trolley Tour. The 90-minute tour launches every Friday night on an air-conditioned adventure trolley with an entertaining and passionate “ghostess,” Lady Melody, leading the narrated ride.
This particular tour is one of the company’s most popular all year round.
Tour patrons get the opportunity to see haunted buildings, hear tales of murder, and meet entertaining spirits of the past. Costumed mystery characters even jump on and off the trolley along the way to keep tourgoers on their toes. Tickets are $39.99, and include a complimentary beer or wine at the tiki bar before boarding. Discover Sarasota Tours’ lead tour-ista and owner, Tammy Hauser, suggests booking early for October tours, since this particular tour is one of the company’s most popular all year round.
Ages 12 and over are welcome, but minors do need to be accompanied by an adult. And since masks are always welcome for Halloween, find yourself a good one—and get ready for some fun with your friends and family!
