Veterans & Vigilantes—The Military History Tour

ONLY OFFERED IN MAY!

Celebrate Memorial month by exploring the history, monuments, people & stories of Sarasota’s honorable veterans, triumphant victories and devious vigilantes.

Hear stories of Sarasota’s military history, from the Seminole Wars of the early 18th century, right up through the World War II and 9/11. Learn about the early settler vigilantes who ruled during the lawless years of the early 20th century, and visit the city’s historic pioneer cemeteries, and the recently completed National Cemetery where U.S. Veterans are laid to rest. Finish up near Unconditional Surrender, the Seward Johnson sculpture fashioned after the iconic Alfred Eisenstaedt photograph of a sailor embracing a nurse, celebrating V–J day in Times Square.
